About Mary L. Sprouse

Mary L. Sprouse is a nationally recognized tax and financial expert. A lawyer in private practice for over twenty years, Ms. Sprouse has given financial, corporate, tax, asset protection, and estate planning advice to hundreds of clients. Her nationwide clients have included CEOs of publicly-traded companies, cable network executives, award-winning producers and screenwriters, record and motion picture industry executives, business owners, medical and legal professionals, and entertainers.

MS. Sprouse was Tax Editor of MONEY magazine for six years and has toured the country as a tax spokesperson for American Express and Bank of America.

Ms. Sprouse is a featured tax expert on TurboTax Deluxe and MacInTax Deluxe, the best-selling tax software programs produced by Intuit.

She has also toured the country as a tax spokesperson for American Express and Bank of America.

Ms. Sprouse has appeared as an authority on taxes and personal finances on numerous television and radio programs, including three appearances on "Good Morning, America," in addition to "Today," NBC's "A Closer Look" with Faith Daniels, "CBS Nightwatch," Cable News Network, and Financial News Network.

Ms. Sprouse's sixth book, Financial First Aid, was published by John Wiley & Sons. A former IRS Audit Group Manager, she is also the author of The MONEY Income Tax Handbook (Time Warner); If Time Is Money, No Wonder I'm Not Rich (Simon & Schuster); Sprouse's Two-Earner Money Book (Viking); Sprouse's Income Tax Handbook (Viking Penguin); Taxable You: Every Woman's Guide to Taxes (Viking Penguin) and Sprouse's How to Survive a Tax Audit(Doubleday). She wrote a regular tax column for Your Company, published by MONEY. Previously, she was a tax columnist for Assets, a magazine published by Business Week.

Ms. Sprouse starred in a 30-minute infomercial for MONEY magazine, promoting a package that included her income tax handbook. This infomercial aired nationally on cable TV. She has been interviewed by and received publicity from The New York Times, Business Week, MONEY, People, Vogue, Ladies' Home Journal, Savvy, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and many others. Her articles on taxes and personal finance have been published in magazines as diverse as Business Week, Reader's Digest, and Cosmopolitan.

Ms. Sprouse received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law and is a member of the State Bar of California. Ms. Sprouse earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan.
